Replacing rear speakers with small subs...

I need to trunk space, so Im taking my 2 10" subs out. DOes any company make subs small enough to fit in the rear speakers of a vert.? I can keep my amp mounted in the trunk if necessary, and have it still run the subs. Also...do the speakers covers just pop off? or is there a certain way I should remove them to get access to the speakers?

You want to replace your 6x8 with a woofer? What about a q form box? try crutchfield for the q forms. I would imagine that your not gonna fit much in the space for a 6x8. I just put 2 12's in my 97 and I still have room for groceries in the trunk. good luck

why not just tap in ..run a line out conneector to your amp..and add your subs to exsisting mach460

The most you are going to get in there is going to be a CRAPPY 6" sub, it is going to be crappy for 3 reasons
1. It is a 6" sub
2. For the mounting depth that you'll be alloted(sp?) it will have NO power
3. It will not be in any kind of enclosure, just free air.

bad idea. 93greenlx is right, on all 3 accounts. i would try to make yourself something. try some fiberglassing, its really easy. mount the amp one one side, and the sub(s) on the other or something like that.

I asked a local car audio place your question, and they said that you can put a 6" or 6 1/2 " driver in there, but those are considered mid range speakers anyway. They might sound better than a factory paper 6x8, but it is still only midrange. But it can be done!!! Personally I wouldn't even mess with 8" speakers, You can get some speakers that don't require much air space, and use a single 12 or something.

I dont know about that 8" comment jl audio makes some bad ass 8's I've hit 142.7 with three old school 8w6's but that was in a hatchback powered by a PPI art series 600
