Holy crap that was easy!

I put a new Ford water pump in tonight and the entire job took less than an hour. If i didn't have to waste 15 mins looking for a 13mm wrench i could have done it sooner. Easiest and cleanest water pump job i've ever done!

I haven't refilled the coolant yet. I put 1 gallon of antifreeze in and then realized i forgot the distilled water, so i'll finish tomorrow. I drained the entire thing, so i figure 1 gallon of antifreeze, 1 gallon distilled and then finish it off with 50/50 mix with a dash of water wetter for flavor

PS: When you get a Ford pump, it comes with a new o-ring. I wish i knew this because i ordered a fel=pro o=ring along with it. Oh well, only $2

The sad thing is that a shop would have likely charged $100+ to do it

Awesome man, good job. I was wondering about this the other day. You know it seems that if you buy a gasket the part has one included--but if you don't they never do!

Hardest part is prob gonna be the coolant refill. When i had the water pump off, i flushed the hell out of the system. I took the pump off and then just put the hose in the Degas/overflow bottle and let it run. The water would flow down into the bottom rad hose and up into the engine from below and come out the water pump hole. Then i opened the rad drain and kept flushing and then let it all drain. My coolant was still clean as new, so i didn't go to crazy with the flush. There weren't any deposits or sludge and it was still green.

Now i have the car parked uphill in my driveway on a steep incline. I aded 1 bottle of coolant, 1 bottle of distilled water and top off with water wetter. I'm gonna run the engine with the heat on until warm and then let it cool off completely and top off. It's gonna be a rainy weekend so i have two days to just sit and run the engine and let it cool and hopefully that burps all the air out of the system.

I could go pick up the tool that pulls a vacuum on the system. I'm gonna see if my buddy can grab it tomorrow. If he can get it, i'll just drain it and use that tool, but i have to drive 20 miles each way to pick it up so not sure if i even need it or can just do the above method?
