Has anybody used any of the repop sheetmetal from mustangs unlimited? Just want to know how good they were quality wise. Looking at 71-73 rears specifically but will take any input for those that have used them.
Year One is only $20 ea more than MU on rears but are $132 ea more on fronts.
Any help is appreciated...

I got some repop metal from them and it fit as good as any other I've used. Like shifty said they pretty much use all the same suppliers.

It depends on who/how you want to pay for it. I was under alot of pressure from my wife to get the sheetmetal on, so I opted for original tooling stuff.. .yeah it cost more, but it fit like a glove and went on without incendent or fit issues.

If you are paying someone to put them on, opt for the originals. You WILL end up paying just the same by the time you pay labor, or body hours to fit the repops.

Good Luck.

ok anybody got a source for oem stuff, I'm on a budget, but willing to pop for a little better stuff. Can't afford NOS.

OH and thats a 71-73 specific question, Its gotten tremendously better out there since I had my 72 in '86-'92, but it still not greatest. Still far better support for 65-70.

Speaking of mustang II's, when I was a senior in high school many moons ago, My girlfriends father bought a 78 King Cobra that had rusted out in both rear corners. When I asked him how he was going to repair it he said.......wait for it.........wait for it.........he said old coke cans, pop rivets and Bondo.

Even as a stupid 17yr old it made me cringe, still does.....
I'd hate to see what he would try to do to my stang, probably papermache the holes and POR15 it.

I'm checking with Don Witt of Ohio Mustang Supply to see what he might be able to salvage for me used wise.

not sure if this applies to you but

I just received in the mail today a peice of steel from Mustangs Unlimited. Its the peice that runs from the shock tower to the radiator support on the passengers side, my battery tray was rusted out and ate all the steel underneath it too. But anyway, if I wasn`t only using the peice that rotted out under the tray, I would be very po`d. This thing is wavy, looks like it was stretched or something, if I was going a concourse restoration, I would be on the phone complaining to those guys now. I`ll get a pic of this thing for yall, you wont beleive it, its bad.

While I have been very happy with most everything I have gotten from MU I will not get sheet metal from them ever again it is poorly made and wavy as stared above I even received a piece that was rusted. I have had very good service from CJ pony parts on there sheet metal thought. Just my two cents YMMV

LOL

This peice has rust on it too. If I didnt need only a small peice of this thing, and already have a welder lined up for saturday, I`d send it back. And if the spot I was repairing was visible, i`d also send it back.
