I just picked up a used set of longtubes, the surfaces where it meets the head are kind of beat. I heard once that you can resurface these, is this true? What kind of shop do I need to look for, and how much should I expect to spend?
Resurface as in plaining the flange, or are you talking about the coating? If you are talking the coating, you can have them Jet-Hot coated for about $150.00 or so direct from Jet-Hot.
You could buy a set of headers without a good coating (ceramic or Jet-Hot) and be faced with the same situation after a few months after the temporary stuff has fallen off and the rust sets in.
Nah, not concerned about the coating. Its the actual flanges that meet the heads, which must be a truly flat surface or they will leak. Kind of like turning a brake rotor or flywheel, only the flange surfaces.
