I put one of the regular DD clusters in my 89 last winter, spent about 7-8 hours doing wiring but I didn't want it to be a hack job. I can say personally it was worth every penny and is quite a dramatic upgrade even for a stock engine, it is not just for swaps. This stock-look cluster defeats the purpose a little bit though because their regular cluster has full-sweep gauges with actual numbering, I would rather have useful information than stock look. And yes, these are a whole different animal from the stock gauges, all the sensors get replaced with their solid-state ones, the speedo cable is eliminated and uses the electronic pulse signal from the VSS, they are 100% digital stepper motor gauges, not to mention they have several plug-and-play addon interface boxes if you want to add integrated controls or features. Expensive yes, but 100% made in the USA right down to the circuit boards. I would know, I live about 2 miles from their factory and have been there.....
