I am assuming that the factory rev limiter is going to suppress that rpms that the new stroker will want to pull.

Is it safe to assume that the only I will be able to turn this engine past the rev limiter is with a chip or tweecer or will a msd unit do the trick.

sorry, I am not too keen on the computer part of the car.

mods are in the sig if that helps at all.

thanks for the help

the computer only cuts fuel not spark... i believe stock fuel cut off is at 5800, an after that the motor will start to lean out. An msd unit would enable you to cut spark, which would prob. be a good idea since i see you have a manual. dont want to miss a shift an say bye bye to the new motor! Good luck with your new setup!

MSD 6-AL has plug-in modules in 200rpm increments. 6400 should be safe for your setup

and i think the stocker (for 87-93, i dont know about SN's for sure) cuts fuel at 6250 rpm.
i would not want to run a stroker to higher RPM's than a would something unstroked. just my two cents worth. good luck.

6500

I was planning on pulling it in the neighborhood of 6500 rpms. I think that was the advertised range of the stage 2 cam. 2000-6500.

I don't plan to exceed that, I just don't want the computer pulling spark or fuel at 5600 or so. I know that when I ran the 302 I found my optimum shift point was at about 5200, I would think it would be a bit higher with the new motor.

So it looks like a 6al or a tuning device such as a the tweecer??!!

thanks for your input guys.

That cam won't make power over 6000 rpm in a 347. The advertised power range is for a 302. The stock fuel cutoff is 6250. IMO, your power peak will be around 5500 rpm.

As for extending your rev limit, the 6AL won't do that. All it does is provide a much safer and more reliable rev limit by cutting aprk to alternating cylinders. It doesn't have any effect on the stock fuel cutoff.

You need a chip or a tuning device like a Tweecer to move the stock limiter.
