My car recently turned over to 145k miles. Up until the last oil change it has been using 1qt per oil change. From what I've read here that's pretty common Well, I have a little over 3k miles on this and it hasn't used any oil at ALL 
1) The motor oil is the same brand and weight that has been used in it since I've owned the car. Pennzoil 5w-30
2) The oil level was correct when it was changed. The same person has been changing it for over 4yrs.
3) The car doesn't leak or smoke and never has. No drips in the driveway,no smoke out of the tailpipes, nor anything like that.
4) The oil has the same color that it always does with 3k miles on it.
5)The oil pressure gauge reads the same as it always does.
The only difference from this oil change to the last one is the filter. The shop had been using 'Pennzoil' filters, until I found out they are just yellow Frams
. I supplied a Motorcraft oil filter this time.
Maybe my SOTP meter is off too, but the car 'feels' like it has more low end power. I'm not really complaining that it's stopped using oil, just puzzled. Any guesses?
