*** Rigamaroles progress thread ***

That is great to see them working on it. I remember before I got into working on Mustangs, when I had my first car fixed at a local shop. I checked on it a couple times and all the parts I brought them were still sitting there untouched, unmoved etc...

It was a hard decision to make, but I made it. I didnt want to have to go through the hassle of trying to find another notch, and then on top of that trying to find one in my price range that doesnt need any work. As soon as I got to the shop and saw that it was underway I got really excited and no longer cared about the fact that I'm dropping several thousand dollars into at once, just became giddy. haha. I'll post pics later when I pick up the bumper and drop it off.

If I were you, when you pull the motor, shave the engine bay and smooth it all out, paint it body color and hide the wires. One of the classiest things done to a fox. Completes the car imo. Even if the engine is stock

I'd like to do that, but I'm not sure if I can at this point. I'd considered painting the whole bay the same color, but like I eluded to before, it will be gray about 4 inches down the firewall and fenders, and then I'd pinstripe it a silver, and to black underneath. The reason why, is because the interior is going to be black and gray so it would match there, and then as a good possibility with black bullitts down the road.

Smoothing the bay is the sexiest thing you can do to a fox, I just dont know if I'll be able to this year or not.

Ok, so no new pics at this point. Turns out the bumper I bought was garbage, so I'm on the hunt for yet another. On Monday they plan on tearing down the rest of it, and I'll get new pics then.

Also turns out that when they straightened the pinch under the doors that the front torque box needs replacing as well as part of the rocker. Just more $$$. Now I'm stressin about the fuggin' bumper again.

Has anyone used this exact piece before? http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/iwwida.pvx?;item?item_no=LRS-8200F 1&comp=LRS Not the Cervinis one, but a 50resto one?

Ok, so I got back from the shop. Not a whole whole lot has been done since the last update. Looks like now they are practically redoing every friggin inch of it, minus 80% of the engine bay. Now they are also putting on my MM XL SFC's, replacing the door hinges, looks like the inside of the trunk has rusted out, etc. etc. So they have acknowledged that this will be quite a bit more work than they anticipated so again, they've cut me another deal to make it affordable to do the extra work. This also includes tinting the windows as well.

I'm trying to return the crap ass bumper the JY sold me, but they are being bastards about it. I've also ordered a new cobra grill to go in it, and the trunk emblems will no longer exist, and I've asked them to leave off the 5.0 badges for now. If I want them on, I'll put them on after I decide. Hopefully someone on here has used the different grill I posted on here before, as thats the one Ive ordered. On with the imagery.

great progress, atleast there finding damage and telling you, verses them just painting over it. bumpers are hard to find i agree. might even be worth it to get a cobra or something for now, and get it painted, that way you can keep looking for an OEM one and get it painted separate when you can find one. im also real glad i shaved my emblems. please take your time marking and filling in dents, ect, i missed a few and im not happy that i did.

Yeah, looking forward to it. They figure now that they have my rear bumper off, they could have straightened it all along, so thats kind of a pain in the ass, but what can ya do. I'm getting more excited all the time, and my bank account is getting smaller all the time, lol.

Speaking of which, SVT, don't you owe us all some new pictures of your car?

Alright, well they've gotten some progress on it now. The guys in the shop said the unibody needed some attention so they sandblasted and grinded some of the problem areas and then used some sealer on it, and he said he wasnt sure if he should weld or not, so he used some sort of specific glue for the chassis. This is all extra work that they are doing out of kindness, so I'm not complaining in the least.

So far the engine bay portion that they will be painting is ready for primer, they also cleaned up a lot of the ****ty welds that were done from when the front clip was replaced before I bought it, as well as straightened the whole front end. I tried to get that in the pictures but it didnt turn out so well. They also put in new metal on the problem rocker panel, and then tackled the rust on the passenger quarter panel. He figures he will have the rest of the rust in the trunk and drivers quarter panel finished within the next couple of days and then primered.

On with the pictures. :D

I ordered a hinge repair kit, I'm not replacing the hinges themselves, thats like 350 bucks for the parts once they get here, that and I dont think the hinges actually need to be replaced. Theres some play but the new pins and bushings should be enough to cure that.

make sure the bushings dont move around in the hinges, then you need oversized ones. ive found that they ovalize the hole instead of wear down the bushings. i have new bushings and pins, and they were put in but i still have play and i can see the bushing moving around in the hinge.

I'm sure they'll be fine, I've ordered a lot of parts for this thing, and I've literally spent more on shipping than I have on parts, so I'm done with that crap. Thats a definate downside of living in Canada.

If we buy up there we get gouged hard, and if we buy from the US we get big delivery charges, customs fees, duty fees, more delivery charges. Its a ****in joke.

UH-ohhh!! Looks like they are getting ready to lay some nice new fresh paint!!!! Hell yeah man! I can't wait to see that thing freshened up. Were you keeping it blue??

Nope, its going Dark Shadow Gray. 87FastFord or whatever his name on here has his GT painted DSG, and hopefully he doesnt mind but this is his car.

It will be painted that exact color. I've wanted a Gray notchback since I was a toddler, so I'm pretty excited. I'm getting my 50resto brand Cobra grill today, then just one more shipment from LMRS, and I'll have all the parts and they can finish the build.

Heres a couple new pics, again. I got the cobra insert today, so I took it up to the shop just in time to see one of the guys welding in some new metal on the drivers side quarter. Should get the rest of my parts by friday, and then it may actually be finished by the end of next week!
