Hey guys, I'm in the market for an aftermarket oil pan. Any suggestions or positives or negatives I should know about certain ones? I'm really leaning towards Canton, Laurel Mountain has them with the pickup tube and dipstick for I think around $250. Moroso has one for around $190 but you have to buy the pickup and dipstick seperate and my pops says he doesn't like they way they fit. (But that was several years ago on a SBC). Milodon would be well over $300 for everything. I seen in MM&FF a Hamburger oil pan, anybody have any experiance with these? Any other I didn't mention? Stef's is one but they seem to be more towards all out racing and more $$$$$.

I would keep my stock pan but launching on slicks and pulling 1.7x 60' I think an aftermarket pan is in order to keep the oil around the pickup.

I have the Canton "T" pan with the kicked out back pan for added ground clearance. When I had the stock K member in the car I found it nearly impossible to pull the starter with the longtubes and the "T" pan as it cages the starter in; plus the longtubes hang lower than the "T" pan and a regular 7 qt Canton would have been just as low, but I deal with it.

Proform sells a 7qt pan and pickup that you can get from Summit or Jegs for less than $200. I would have done that, but they weren't around when I was looking. A friend got one and its a nice piece for the money. The Milodon is the nicest one IMO.

I've been using Canton's for a few years and have not had any issues. I saw the same thing as Nutty with the T-style pan on my own car and switched to a deep sump. It really does not hang very low.

If you want a good alum pan, Stefs, Moroso, Jeff Johnson are all top notch. I have a Moroso alum pan for external sump wet system and it is very, very nice.

Do a search on Laurel Mountian, I have seen and heard some things....
