Ok, Do any of y'all know if the roller cam retainer plates were steel or iron? I recently pulled the 400 horse roller 5.0 roller motor from my Ranger due to a cracked block and the cam gear had eaten into the retainer. There were no other signs of problems, engine ran fine ( other than the crack in #4 cylinder)Just wondering if the camshaft retainer should be steel like the dist gear to avoid undue wear.
