I picked up a set of 1.7 roller rockers for a good deal last night and had a quick question. How can I tell the difference between a stud mount and a pedastool mount? Ive got a set of GT40P heads and im assuming there pedastool mount, but if the roller rockers are stud mount would there be anyway to put them on the heads or am I screwed?

Thanks in advance

I couldnt find a brand name on them last night but I really didnt look hard. I bought them from a guy I trust and he said there 1.7s didnt know the brand. Is there any way I could get them to work on the GT40ps?

don't quote me on this but i think you can take the heads to a machine shop and have a stud kit put on them or something. someone more sure will probably chime in.

You can have the heads machined for studs and I also believe that there is a bolt on conversion kit to change over to studs but I would prefer to have the heads machined.

But it sounds like you have pedestal mount RRs by the description.

A pic would me most helpful though.

Depending on the brand, and how good of a deal you got, I believe you can buy new roller trunions for some rockers. You may be able to convert a stud mount rocker to pedestal that way.

crane makes pedestal mount to adjustable mount conversion kit..runs like 604 through summit or jegs it is good to like 500 lift or something. I would have heads machined for studs though if they are off car..

If they are studs and your heads are pedestal, just sell them and pick up a set of pedestal rockers from the classifieds.

You bought some stud mounted ones. You can get screw in studs to go in your heads. But like said above the best way to do it is take the heads to the machine shop and let them change the heads over to stud mounted rockers.

I also think you should just sell em and pick up some ped mount rockers. Valvetrain is no place to cheap out. High rpm durability/strength is all about a stout valvetrain.
