Rookie TBI questions..

I think im wanting to install a bigger TB and EGR spacer. What should I be looking for? Stock tbi is what 60?65?. Keep in mind my low mods. I do not plan on changing the intakes for awhile. But there should be some gain by installing the tb and spacer:shrug: .
It looks like I can get those 2 items for about 250-300$$$$.

Now question #1. I have a Granatele Maf. We measured the outlet and it measured 95mm:shrug: The meter was given to me and is new, so why not try and put it to use:shrug: Is it to big for what I need or am trying to do?

#2 pipe sizes to make it all work. Im looking @ the inlet tube and where it turns is very close to the strut area. I would think something different needs to be used to not hit the strut tower area.

If I am sounding stupid on this then sorry. Someone school me please.:SNSign:

TBI = Throttle Body Injection, a primitive fuel injection abortion that sucked.
You want a throttle body. Stock is under 60mm, so really anything is an upgrade. 65mm is a good size for minor bolt-ons.

MAF meter - Only use it if you know what injectors it's matched to. Don't know? Don't use it. Size doesn't really matter as long as it's accurate.

Pipe sizing - just make sure that the airflow is smooth going from piping to maf, to piping, to tb, or else you'll get turbulence. They don't have to be the same size, just make sure it's not restrictive and the transitions are smooth.

Just talked with Summitt and they have a 70mm tbi, and a 1" spacer for $200.00 shipped. (thier brand).
The maf he said is knida over kill for what im going. He said to either talk with there tech dept on recommendations for that or just use the stock.
He said im better off just selling the maf I have now, or possibly trading someone that has more use for the lager one. As far as calibration goes I dont know? It has some engraved #'s on the side, I may be able to call summitt back and get that info. I have the invoice # where the other guy bought it. It's never been used.

I dont think you will really see any gains to swap throttle bodies on an stock engine. Not worth the 300 bucks you say your gonna spend. i would put that money elsewhere or save it for heads or cobra intake or something else. maybe put it towards some 3.73's

I'm guessing you mean TB for throttle body, not tbi. Stock is 58mm i believe. You may want to look into something like what i'm running (see linky) if you want a cleaner look and don't already have a chrome intake tube already. If you plan on eventually getting a new intake manifold, i'd suggest a 70mm TB and egr spacer. The stock manifold can be port matched fairly easy to 70mm, but then when you swap intakes the 70mm should still be plenty. As said before, the maf housing size doesn't mean much, just make sure it's calibrated for your injectors.
for a bit more than $300 you could look into something like this, which is what i have, and no real issues so far:

$130

i will say i didn't notice much gains when installing these (all at the same time), if any. the HP claims are bogus if you ask me, but i wanted something to do, and i know they will help out with future mods...

Yea sorry I do mean tb.
Bloop the 1st item your showing is that the tb with the egr spacer? And I figured not much gain from just these, but its easier to buy in pcs than all @ once if you catch my drift.
Is it really gonna matter with just doing those 2 items that I keep the stock meter. Also the new tubing gain, is because its smooth and it gets rid of the wrinkle?

the first pic is just a professional products 70mm TB. unpolished is cheaper.
you would also need the egr spacer, polished is $40. you'd have to buy both at the same time.

don't expect big gains with any of these mods on a stockish engine. but they will produce better gains when your engine starts breathing more. there are better ways to spend $300 if you just want a bit more performance

Like:shrug: , other than saving for something bigger?
