Last time I heard of Rotrex I believe it was either HKS or Blitz that made them for imports still don't know much about them tho.

Now why would you install something you aren't sure of?

EDIT: I found the website www.rotrex.com . If I recall correctly those are very compact relatively low boost units that use a small case with circulating gears setup kinda like a rotary engine to create boost. The Germans messed with this technology a few years back in the small displacement VW engines G40, and G60 4 cylinder units. They called these superchargers G-laders or G-Chargers because of the shape they had. They were pricy to produce and required special maintenance mostly because of the fluid they use to run which isn't your average oil apparently.

Is there a kit coming out for our cars?

Forced Air Performance has a kit. I have been in contact with them about a possible write up for the stangnet homepage.

someone has to be the first one to install it. most people dont know anything about it, that is what we are looking to change. actually, there are a few kits that have already been installed throughout the USA.

what kind of gains are they claiming, cause that thing is quite a bit more expensive than most screw/roots superchargers

The kit is more complete than others I have seen. I mean that front plate with idlers and tensioner alone is pretty expensive, massive water to air cooler, cooler for the rotex unit (no taping the oil pan).

What I don't get is why the special centrifugal supercharger, the only real advantage the rotex site says is less noise?

They don't say anything about upgrading the fuel delivery other than increasing injector size.

they had an 08 bullitt at sema that produced 500+ rwhp. some of the others i have seen have been in the 450 range.

the efficiency is competitive with turbo setups. Rotrex uses a 7:1 drive, which allows for higher impeller speed.

i will be talking with them soon about upgrades. Stage3 motorsports has done a few installs, so i will probably call them too. i am not sure what was done to the bullitt to get 500 rwhp.

There is a write up on a install on I think Modularfords....I am going to see if I can find the link.

Hmm cannot find it ATM..but it was on a forum I read all the time. I remember because I was looking for E-Force numbers. The guy that did it had Youtube vids and everything. It made very nice numbers, and was a very clean and easy install. If I find the thread, I will post it here

Forced Air Performance Build - ModularFords.com

Good write up

It does have some good information in it. All it needs is my style how-to write up to help finish it off. I called Heath at FAP yesterday. When I asked about fuel system upgrades, he said they used to supply it, but everyone seemed to want to go their own route, so they dont include it anymore. There are a few choices out there, with a range of prices: KB BAP, GT500 pumps, Fore pumps/rails/fpdm, etc.

He also said they have been seeing 450-500rwhp and 430-450tq with 8-9 psi. 3 year warranty on FAPs parts, and 2 yr warranty on the blower itself does not hurt either.

Anyone know the cheapest place to get a GT500 kit? At what point does the stock pump NEED to be upgraded for safety?

I am looking reeal hard at this Kit. I have a deal in the works for a Supershaker that will fit me perfectly. I have a cdc shaker now

I been told that 430~450 at the wheels is when the stock pump gives out. So I would guess anything pass and its time to upgrade. In most cases, if you want to be at 450~460, I been told a KB-BAP will do the trick safely

Anything over 450 and you should upgrade the pump. I have no experience with the BAP - I went with dual pumps. Will probably do the dual BAP when I do a forged engine. I wouldn't do FI without addressing fuel delivery - you don't want to run lean especially with stock internals.

I agree. 4 hours is crazy! Most people take that just to install nitrous. So 4 hours for them means 10 hours for me, maybe 8 with your write-up. Still means I can get it done in 1 day!

I guess I can understand why they don't include fuel upgrades, but they definitely should note that it's needed. I would definitely do it for anything over 400 HP to be safe. I'd rather have extra fuel available, then not enough and blow the engine.

I agree, that is one of the most important parts of going FI. lean = BOOM!!

I was thinking the same time line to install with my write up. too bad putting the article together will probably take 2 full days to edit the pics and codes properly.

one day i will install a part that i can actually time myself against the listed install times. the "flat rate pay" in me says i can beat the times listed, but never get to try it.

Heath mentioned it would be needed, but i agree, mentioning it on the website would be a good idea. he said they will be working on a new site soon, so they may be holding off on updating the current site.

Khyron has a saleen blower. i believe he is running the 475hp kit with a BAP. he said he runs a little rich up top when on the dyno. BAP seems like an inexpensive option, but almost seems like a band-aid instead of a soltion. who knows, I may go that route, depending on funds.

Anthony mentioned a new dual pump set up for $240, but he did not know all the details about it. I may try to call about it and see whats up.

I spoke with Heath today and had a really good convo with him. The rotrex kit is very well done, and the more info I dig up on it, the more I am starting to like it. So I guess its starting to boil down to the Supershaker vs The Rotrex for me.

Both will fit with my Shakerhood in tack Well heh the Saleen IS the shaker ! But this Rotrex setup is looking pretty sweet, and from my numbers, I could get a GT500 pump + S/C setup with the Rotrex for the price of the Saleen and no pumps.

Decision time.......

BigCat, keep me in the loop in your write up ! I may need it !

not sure if hot rod wants coverage, but at least one other magazine does.

Bump how about one of these kits combined with the C&L intake manifold when it comes out? That could be very interesting.
