Im not really sure if this has anything to do with it.. i have seen different reports, some people say that it does cause rough idling and lower gas mileage, while others say it doesnt
i recently filled up at the murphy station where gas comes with 10% ethanol fuel and rigth after, my check engine light came on and the car started shaking like crazy...
the gas is a lot less responsive and its making strange odors coming from the exhaust...

anybody have any experience with this???

It might just be a bad tank of fuel- contaminated with diesel fuel or something like that. Normally, 10% ethanol shouldn't cause rough running.

It will cause lower mileage, since ethanol has lower energy content per gallon than gasoline, but the difference should be minor.

You have a choice of ethanol or no ethanol? I wish we were so lucky in Texas! Normally if the state mandates corn gas, you have to cross the border into the next state to get your gas without it.

10% shouldn't change much. In fact, that's all that is around me now. I've been filling my GT up with 10% for the past 2-3 years.

Go to autozone and have them pull the engine code for you.

thanks guys
i think that there might be water in the gas because the engine gives off this weird smell
and ive had this problem before when i filled up at the murphy
i put some STP in it to remove the water, so hopefully itll start running right
uhh, haha i dunno how to get my codes pulled :/
im new at this

I have heard of your issue and I usually hear it from people who fill up at some hole in the wall, Mom and Pop gas station. It's always usually a bad tank of fuel. That is why I usually stick to the big name stations even if I have to pay a little extra. Sometimes that cheap gas price also means cheap gas.

well, apparently..
the ethanol fuel caused my engine to run so hot that it burned through some spark plug wires and that was causing the misfiring
so i changed those..
and now it runs perfectly!!

If you are using the e10 or e85 fuel your car is not made to run on it. Check out some of the sites on the web. This stuff is very corosive to plastic and aluminum parts as well as rubber parts. I even call wix filters and they say it will eat the glues and such. So I would not use it myself.

Fuel wouldn't change engine operating temp.

I just think your spark plug wires burned up on their own and coincidentally the problem started after an E10 fillup.

Like i said previously. Gas stations near me are E10 only..and it's all i've been putting in for the last 3 years or so. My engine idles smooth and quiet.

Mustang 5l5 you are right temp should not change it was probable just coincidental. If it runs fine I would leave it be. I would look into the ethenal mix and make sure it isn't over 10% if it is find a different gas station.
