RPM 80

just get a cheap tach, you can get em for next to nothing. Wiring it in is as easy as hooking up a couple of wires and routing them to the place you want to put the tach. I had mine getto run for a while by sticking it in the far left of the dash and held in place with a rag. I have never heard of this thing you are talking about, but it sounds like a temporary tach to me. Internet search didnt come up with anything for me.

If you have a dwell meter it should also have a tach function, probably up to 3000 rpm. If not, get a cheap Sun Super Tach II from that same Autozone. I got a sneaky little 2 5/8" black one for ~$35.

hehe, I put one of those in my 67 in the clock blank around 1990. I have only had 1-2 people through the years ever notice it and recognize it should not be there....of course with the 70 you cannot use that cheat!

You need to by a Fluke for that. Its an accessory. A good fluke is upwards of 300 bucks. I don't know if that will work on a cheap one.
yup, my last Fluke was 345.00.

I still dont get why you want a temporary "tool". It by itself does does nothing, you can also get a timing light that reads RPM also.I dont think you understand what it does or what its used for.:(

The only thing I see that being useful for is precision readout of engine speed, of if you have a weird ingition setup like a dual coil bank on a crown vic or something where a normal tach from autozone wont read properly (trust me, I KNOW, you have to drill out the PCM pin 57 or something to get a "usable" signal from the computer)

back on topic..

....but I agree with everyone when they say to buy a cheap 35 dollar tach from autozone. I got the 2 5/8th inch one I think, strapped it around my column with a hose clamp and was done with it. Hooking up a tach is easier than filling up your car with gas. The only hard part is routing things to make it look pretty.

ok, if it comes to that I will buy a tach. The whole reason I wanted to read my rmp was to set my idle on my engine. lol. I did say that I was gonna try and rent those tools "First" before i was gonna buy anything. And yes I was gonna also rent a timing light to check my timing.
