I have a nice 93 Cobra that I just aquired. I also have a 95 Cobra Coupe. In the 95 I can get it up to 6000+ before the rev limiter kicks in, but in the 93 it bounces at 5000-5200. The tach colors are bearly in the yellow before the revs bounce. Is this correct for the Cobra fox body? Do I need to get a power commander of some sort to up the rev limiter? Any help would be great.

I am not 100% sure but I thought all the limiters were close to the same place at around 6200.

You might ck and see if it's an ignition problem. Could just be a bad set of spark plug wires.

The tach probably is leaving something to be desired.

As for the SN95 redline, seems to me that Paul and others have reported a true (per logging) 7K RPM limiter. I have no info to confirm that.

Stock fox puter does limit at 6250, but I dont know if the cobra puter has a slightly higher limiter.

Are you not running out of lung at 6000 RPM anyhow?

Good luck.

The 93 just doesn't run as hard in the top end because right where the serious power band is, the limiter bumps it. Maybe I am just not used to driving a fox. I have had two SN95's. One a Cobra (still have) and the other a 95 vert.

BTW the 93 is clean and perfect. Maybe the clutch is different to me and it just revs faster than the SN-95 with a king cobra clutch vs. the stock ford disk and plate. I was just asking incase anybody knew.

I'm kind of thinking possible ignition problem as well, when was the last time the car had a full tune up?

When I first bought my car it would die out at 5000-5500 rpm. Felt like a rev limiter kicking in, but in my case the ignition components were original so it was obvious that was the problem.

Stock tachs are crapolla. Either get a shift light or an aftermarket tach.

All 5.0 H.O. EFI engines are limited to 6250rpm.

I've seen over 7000 rpm on my '90 Mustang GT. Like someone else said the stock tach is crap.
