Okay here's the deal. 1980 mustang with a 79 5.0 motor in it. It has the stock mustang motor mounts from that year. When i installed my BBK shorty equal-length the headers rubbed against the steering column. so to get rid of it i had to take some metal, drill a hole in it and put it between the motor mount and the crossmember to use it as a spacer for the header. Now that's all well and good for a temporary solution, however i need something more permeant.

So what i'm asking is: Does the stock motor mounts from newer fox bodies raise the engine higher or do i need to find another way to avoid this issue?

As always, any input is appreciated - thanks.

My dad's 18,000 mile 93 cobra did the same thing. I ended up putting spacers on the steering column inside the passenger compartment. Go to your local Ford dealer and have them print you out a picture of the column installation. Where the bottom two nuts go onto the studs, put some thin washers between the column and the bracket attached to the dash, and your problem will be fixed. We used less than 1/4" of washers and the column is now a good 1/2" away from the headers, vs. rubbing on them on hard/full turns of the wheel. Good luck to you!
