Rubbing with 315's

I just installed some Deep Dish Bullits with 315's . On the right side the Bassani catback exhaust pipe is about 1/4" from the tire. The left side is fine with about 1 1/4" inch clearance. I tried to adjust the exhaust tubing from when it leaves the muffler and move it left and right, but the clearance doesnt change. I dont think I will have an issue while the car is moving because there is a gap that wind can blow through, but im worried about after a long drive and then letting the car sit with the exhaust 1/4" from the tire.

Is 1/4" enough clearance? How much heat would it take to melt a tire? Can I put some sort of heat tape or something on that part of the exhaust

Tailpipes don't actually get that hot, certainly not any hotter than a tire does while doing some lapping. I say drive it around a bit and if it rubs (if you notice scuffs on the pipes) then either bang out the tubing, have a shop fab you some pipes, get wheel spacers, or if its an axle location problem get a PHB.

Is the Bassani exhaust in pieces (bolted together)? If so, loosen all your connections after the pipe connects to the midpipe...you should be able to create some additional clearance. (I just did this over the weekend) Otherwise, it shouldnt be an issue. Hard cornering would be your biggest worry...along with low tire pressure.

I have the same think with my borlas,and I was aible to adjust to the point that wan no longer a problem......

I have 315s with my Bassani exhaust. I had a garage that does a lot of custom exhaust work dimple it for me.

I just took some mechanics wire and tied it to the pipe and pulled the exhaust away from the tire, tied the other end around something on the frame underneath, cheap and easy.

Ive got the Mac flowpath catback, and I know that the flowtubes after the mid section are bent in such a way that the tailpipes should exit out the rear with plenty of tire clearance. I had a problem with the tailpipes touching my tires when I first bolted everything up bcuz I had the flowtubes angled the wrong way and it actually made the mufflers/tailpipes tilt outward towards the tires.... Loosen all ur bolts on the exhaust up and check for proper alignment, then retighten the exhaust and recheck ur clearance.

Had the same thing happen to me. No matter how much I adjusted the pipes it still rubbed. I had a exhaust shop mod the pipes.
