for an upcoming "project", i was thinking about flipping my upper intake manifold. its a professional products typhoon. i know its going to look a little weired because my vac lines will be showing in the front plenum.

i'm going to have to extend some wires for the throttle body sensors. but what about the throttle cables? theres going to be alot of excess throttle cable in the engine bay.

has anybody done this?

peace

i want it took like dis....

I plan on doing that one day too, much easier for running turbo piping.I ve heard of people flipping the T/B upside down too to keep cables on the other side still. And to the person who replied, no you dont flip the lower as well. The black 95 in moneypit's thread(went 9's at 152) has a flipped intake as well. I say go for it.

I saw a thread where somebody did this not too long ago.

Sorry but I don't remember who did it.

Grady

i remember seeing that. it was a turbo sn95 mustang with a blue upper intake.

i tried looking for it again but......

our search function sucks!!!!! :bang:

i think i'm going to have to do the fox throttle body swap all over again like replace the throttle cable and throttle bracket over to one from a older non-ho 5.0 like those mavericks where they came with the intake already flipped.

It may have been over on the Corral!

Did you look over there?

just curious, how does it make routing the piping easier?

Because if the turbo is mounted on the pass side, you would only have its outlet going to the intercooler and then it would come out the driver's side of it and up into the intake, rather than snaking back through the inner fender where the discharge tube was.

i just got a email reply from the person who owns the cobra from that second pic i posted.

heres what he told me:

Flipping the intake is pretty straight forward. What I had to do to make things were are as follows:

1. Modify wiring for TPS sensor to reach the new position.
2. Had a buddy make a customer set of intercooler pipes.
3. Purchase a small billet bracket for $25 from X2C motorsports for the throttle linkage mount.
4. Purchase a 87-93 throttle cable.

I actually have a Hogan's sheetmetal upper now with the TFS-R lower.

i would rather run a flipped upper so i can run a intercooler with inlets and outlets on opposite ends instead of one side. this way i dont have to really worry about placing pipes and it would look a little cleaner.

also, it would be alot cheaper to find a intercooler with inlets/outlets on opposite sides on ebay LOL

i'm not 100% sure but i believe the edelbrocks would alow me to flip it because the lowers bolt pattern looks the same both ways. i'll try it when i get a chance today.

yea prob, i just started last year and dont have many hours in. i can only stick w2w 3's and rally and some mean fashon airs as of now, we have a much shorter season than you in fl, im in nj. wakeskate i can w2w, pop-shuvits, pop 180's and surface 720 a couple times.
whats your trick list like

i actually only have about 2 months in total...

Damn didnt see that....it sucks for me because I mostly only been able to ride behind flats boats/my whaler but my 2 freinds just got a moomba and a nautique so I have been learning ALOT. Although now that im in college I dont ride period. As of 4 months ago, I could do back rolls, f/s or b/s 3's, and like your average 180 grab stuff. Ive landed a few front rolls but my skill really shines on rails(since that pretty much all I could do behind the flats boat). This Xmas break I want to get in the water alot more.
