Running Lean?????

I have finnally fired up my project car of the last 2 1/2 years. My 99 blew up quite some time ago and as been put on the back-burner till the $ came around. Just wondering if I should be worried about running lean with these mods.... MAC CAI-75mm TB/plenum-FRPP SS headers-Bassani X w/cats-Magnaflow CB.... All these airflow mods and no fuel mods...I REALLY dont want to fuel starve my brand new all forged baby. Should I proceed with caution until I can afford the XCAL 2 or bust out my lead foot??? Im dying to drive the beast again. Thanks!!

You shouldnt need any fuel mods. The stock pump and injectors are more than capable of supporting the mods you have. With the stock MAF you should be fairly close, but it is alway a good idea to stay alert when you first put a motor back together. Listen closely for any detonation. also, once the motor is broken in, put a new set of plugs in it, and make a few hard runs and read the plugs to make sure you aren't too lean or rich.

I would take it easy on that brand new engine. When you buy cars brand new from the dealer your suppose to take it easy for first 2,000 miles, correct me if I'm wrong.

I have followed DSS's insructions to a tee for break in. Just letting her run for 1/2 hour in a high idle, check for leaks, and change the oil. I dont plan on doing any extended highway drivng or anything else to stress the motor for at least 300-400 mi. I knew my fuel sytem was enough just didnt know if the ECU would compensate for the amount of extra air being delivered. After passing by the car every day while it was parked in the garage with the motor pulled for over 2 years, Im going to baby her this time...
Ill definately check the plugs after some more hours have been put on to make sure evertything looks good.

So I'm guessing the engine got too lean and blew the first time? Just curious as to how that happened..

I'd say there might be a chance you're running a little lean.. but I don't think it would be dangerously lean. I ran a little lean with a CAI, 75mm tb and plenum, and full exhaust (headers, o/r xpipe, catback)

Trashed the bearings the first time. When we pulled the bottom end off the stocker there was only 1/2 qt. of oil in the pan. This was of course nobody's fault but my own. You had better believe Im pulling the dipstick everytime I fill the car up this time around.

From what Ive been hearing it shouldnt be lean enough to cause damage, just enough so that there is 10-15 horse to be unlocked with a nice tune. Just treading lightly after emptying my bank account on this project.
