Another dissapointing night at the track leaves me wanting a set of slicks. It seems like the only prep the track well for the slick cars. I can hook up better on the street than I can at the track! So what do I need to run slicks? Im guessing im putting out about 280rwhp and 300rwtq, I know I would need a built rear end but would the stock t-45 handle it? Any and all suggestions welcomed.

yeah the T-45 is not really that bad of a trans... it kicks the drap out of the T-5 that the old 5.0 cars came with.. If you do grenade it someday go with a TKO-600

If you want to hook up....just get a set of MT DR's....but the secret is to set them at 14PSI but not lower than 10PSI......My last track outing I was at 17PSI when I first ran and only cut a 1.98 60ft...then dropped to 15 PSI and cut 1.90.....adjusted it again to 13 PSI and a good 2nd gear burn out and 1.71 was rewarded.....no track prep was done for at least 3 hours and alot of street tires were running! Tire pressure on DR's makes all the difference in the world! On my last run I put them to 32 PSI to drive home and my buddie wanted to run one last time......only cut a 2.2 60ft with MT DR's set that high! Just have to find your sweet spot for your tire pressure and set up!

NEED - a set of rims and tires.

Good idea - 31 splines and diff.

I ran the last part of last season sprayin outta the hole on mt et streets (bias ply) on the stock axles and diff. I've seen 3 stock diffs let go in the same amount of time on cars that make the same or less power with dr's.

sweet! I know my next step is to get some 4.10's, but while they have it apart I might as well build up the rear end

How much abuse can the t-45 put up with? If I get a built rear end do I have to worry about my trans with the power Im puting out?
