i am aware that before i make much boost i will be in line for a new block. The car is already cut underhood to accomodate twin turbos. Tuning may take a few broken parts but everyone breaks things every now and then. Will turbos be up to boost enough in the eighth to compete with superchargers though? I am leaning toward turbos but dont know where to buy from

Don't get wound up, stangnet is full of people with absolutely no clue.
Nor do they realize a good turbo setup is $6000 or so. They all think you can just slap on a turbo on a car, it's not nearly that easy.

IMO, having 185's already, i'd do a 347, maybe a 100 shot on a race car.

A good turbo setup for a 5.0 is no where near $6000.

You can get a complete foxbody setup new for between $4000-5000. If you compare a supercharger and add the price of everything that is included in a complete turbo kit youll see the price isn't that far off.

That's pretty much what i'm saying.
Assembling is only half the battle (majority of kits fit horribly), getting it to run right is the other half.
My buddy does turbo cars all the time, street and race, they are a serious hassle, and most need a DFI setup to run perfect.

For an all out race car, without a doubt turbo, but we are talking 1500rwhp on race blocks, not a 306 with a stock block.

Look at TT91, he's got a sweet turbo setup, but it's taking some time to get perfected, and he's no 5.0 rookie. Now put that in the average newbie (specific to no one) hands and what you have is alot of broken and screwed up parts..

I wouldnt say tuning is a serious hassle at all. For most a dyno tune is all that's needed. Sure it costs a little extra, but it should be done with any vehicle that has that level of modifacations.

For me, I set the timing at 18* and locked it there. Sure it's a bit on the safe side...but I had no tuning issues whatsoever.
