Well, not too long till the xp8 is paid for completely and it will be time for another ride. I'm generally a pushrod fan.
I checked out the new saleens and not sure they are for me, nor do i want to pay that much for something so slow.
2004 and older s281's i don't think will be enough for me either.

What years, models and options were available?
And how many were made each year?

I think you're a little off on 1996 and 1997 production.

for 1996 the Saleenbook shows 10 coupes and 10 convertibles
for 1997 the Saleenbook shows 21 coupes and 19 covertibles

It looks like you were showing total Saleen production for those years

1994 S351 45 cars built only a handful ( 7? ) were factory supercharged
1994 SR 2

1995 S351 126 cars built 53 were factory supercharged R-Codes.
1995 SR 7 customer cars built
1995 R Factory race cars 6 built for the season

1996 S351 20 Total S351's 17 were R-code.
1996 SR These two cars were actual recycled 1995 S351's

1997 S351 40 cars built All Superchraged now
1997 SR 5

1998 S351 22 cars
1998 SR 3 cars renumbered

1999 46 cars
1999 SR 2

I included Steve's cars also.

Less cars built than you thought. In my opinion there is not any particular year to avoid. Obviously, the 99's are more expensive at the moment.

If you are serious about owning an S351 PM me. I will fill you in on what to look for and what to avoid. The actual Saleen 97 upgrade done by Saleen added a few nice parts like stainless fuel line and fuel rails but no much else. The new tune was as bad as the original. Back East Mark at PAS has a very good tune for these cars. More than half of the motors in these cars have failed. Some replaced by Saleen years ago.
A properly prepared/tuned stock S351 supercharged motor with a decent new intake, cylinder heads ( the 96 and up cars got Trick Flow Twisted Wedge ) and cam can make 575-600 rwhp all day long on pump gas.

If you have never driven one you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say there is no replacement for displacement.

Well, i defenetely am a fan of the wedge heads (as you can see), the tune i can have taken care of.
I'd prefer the latest of body styles availbe in a s351.
What was an SR? Was that the race car with the widebody?

Do banks give you any trouble with a loan for a car this old that costs this much?

Most banks will loan on them. They are listed in the collector car section of Kely Blue Book or Nada. My credit union would loan retail on them. This is the time to buy if you are ready. Some are listed on ebay right now and there are a few listed privately that are decent deals. It does seem like the prices have started to rise somewhat in the past few weeks.
