Roush S351 Vortech Pulley Size?

Guys I am getting ready to do some work on my car to get some more HP. I am thinking about replacing the pulley on the vortech to get more boost. I measured the pulley today and it was just shy of 3.5 inches across. Did I measure that right, it seems big. I am getting 9 lbs of boost now and have no fuel issues. Should I go to the 3.1 or the 2.9 inch? I also plan on doing a 255 in tank pump while we are at in so I don't have fuel issues. I believe this is an 8 rib pulley not a six by my count. Also will the Chicane pulley work or just get one from Summit? Sorry for all the questions. I'd like to get more HP because my car isn't doing as much as others at the wheels stock.

Thanks
Bill

3.33 is stock size. Options for smaller pullies through Vortech are 3.13 and 2.75. If your serious about adding a smaller pulley for a car thats driven on the street, you may want to look at adding either the Vortech after cooler or an aftermark intercooler. The Heat soaked Vortech's are notirious for popping head gaskets when adding more boost for the street.

You won't be able to fit an aftercooler of and intercooler without major mods to the S-351. I had one on a car and it requires major work. Personally on a stock s-351 go with the 2.95. Any more and you probably won't see anymore power. More than the 2.95 and you start having to worry about efficency of the blower. Alot of guys spin them harder but, it doesn't always make more power. Also remember that you bump up the power much and you really have to step up the fuel system and electronics. For 800 rwhp I had over $4500 in electronics and fuel system just in parts.

Scott is correct. The only two mods over stock should be no smaller than a 2.95 pulley and a powerpipe. You will see another 40 hp from that combo alone.

Try to grab your Vortech discharge pipe in your hands after drving your car for a few min. That's the temp of the heat going in. Don't put a laser/digital thermometer on it. You will be sorry you did when you see how hot it gets.

I ordered the 2.95 pulley and belt today and a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump. Hoping to go from 9lbs to 12lbs with this change. I decided against the power pipe cause you have to cut the fender. I am just not up for that right now. Once I have the car paid off and don't car about the value. I might build it forged and do it up right. Install and tune set for late next week. I will reply with the gains from the X pipe and the pulley. Can't be any worse:rolleyes:

Thanks for all the advice
