When I bought new Sadie, I drove her 70 miles home from Kansas City (through somewhat heavy traffic). She had bullet mirrors and I quickly came to the conclusion that they absolutely SUCK; you can't see squat. I actually bought some 3" blind spot mirrors to put on them just so I could see until I got some better mirrors.

Anyway I just got my new mirrors yesterday and installed them today. They look a lot nicer and I can see a lot better (I'm still going to add some little 2" blind spot mirrors, though).

Here's one of the new mirrors

And a comparison of the visibility with the bullets & the new ones:

And FWIW, this is the first time I've ever ordered from Mustangs Unlimited. The mirrors were a lot cheaper through them than anyone else that I checked, they got here really quickly, and when I emailed them with a question about the pricing before I ordered, I got a reply within a couple hours. So I was quite pleased with them. :nice:

Wow Chelle, tell your insurance co. to give you a big break on your premiums!--- 3-point seatbelts and big mirrors.
Personally I stick with stock, because I like the look of the era. However, I do like a modern performance drivetrain, and sound system, as long they are hidden :D

LOL. For the most part, I like the stock look too, but I also like the idea of being able to see what's around me and not bashing my face in on the steering wheel. And these mirrors are stock reproductions so at least I'm not going too far out there. I really like these better than the other rectangular ones because these are really thin and a lot more delicate looking. The other ones look a bit too bulky. The driver's side isn't remote, but I don't mind since it's not that difficult to roll down the window to adjust it.

I was originally planning on using old Sadie's mirrors (they're a similar style but more square than rectangular). But then I realized that they were chromed plastic ($10 mirrors from JC Whitney :notnice: ). I wasn't about to drill extra holes in the door for plastic mirrors.

Heh, heh, those bullets are the exact same mirrors I have on my '68. I haven't driven the car yet, so I'm not sure how they'll work. In case you haven't driven a fastback, you can't see squat out the back anyway, so that ought to just about make it perfect! I have a history of sorts with bad mirrors and huge blind spots, I've owned a couple sportbikes and the mirrors on them were shaky and small so you had to turn around anyway. My current family car is a Suburban that came stock with factory tinted glass, then the last owner had them tinted even darker (yes even the side windows), and on top of that the mirrors are tinted glass! I was going to swap them out for stockers, but I've kind of gotten used to them. Just try backing that thing out of our long driveway at night, it's a whole new experience!
