Safety Harness on the street ?

I'm installing an 8 point cage and Corbeau forza seats,....I want 5 point harnesses but wonder if they will be street legal,....I.e. DOT approved,....

Any ideas and experiences?

LMAO, I think the harnesses are a bit more safe than our handy tandy seatbelts. I dont think Cops would mind,

Actually I've been hearing some negative stories about this,.....apparently there is only one harness system that is street legal,......regardless I agree a 5 point harness would be safer if mounted correctly! But,.......

A harness sucks for daily driving. You are stuck to your seatback and reaching things like radio controls is hard. Then if you keep them loose you defeat the purpose. I suggest you use harness for racing only. You can always install harness and keep the factory belts for daily driving. And harness take a little time to belt up, tighten everything. You wouldn't want to go through that routine everytime you get in.

I don't really drive the car that much anyway,.......mostly show it,....

yeah

ok I have harnesses in my car and I dont use them for everyday driving too much trouble.. but when im doing bad stuff I use them and its cool.. street legal too..

it says right on it.. dot approve.. its legal but I wouldnt use it for everyday.. sometimes I do.. iv been pulled over before and the cops dont say anything..

Corbeau does offer a retractable belt system that will allow you to lean forward with the harness on. You can see it here: http://www.corbeau.com/brochure/belts.shtml These are not SFI approved, so if that is what you are after, this will not work for you. However, for a street belt and autocross/road racing/drag use where an SFI belt is not required, these belts work well.

I am in Ohio and was pulled over for speed, the cop wrote me for window tint and complained about no front plate but didn't say a word about the racing harness.
