Well, I've been looking for a back-up set of 5 Spoke Saleen Wheels in good condition for almost 2 years. I came across this set of 16" x 8" Ronal R9's that appear to be in very good condition. I know they're not exactly like my original Saleen 5 Spoke Wheels (IE. No polished lip, center cap is slightly different, Saleen front rims are 16" x 7"). However, I just wanted to have a back-up set (for no particular reason???) and original Saleen 5 Spokes in grey are going for $800+ in fair condition. This set came to $481 (includes shipping). The price seems OK. I think I probably over paid by $50 - $100, but I was bidding against a guy who purchased 2 full sets of Ronal R9's in the last month and I didn't want to get snaked out at the last minute Good Deal....Bad Deal.....Any thoughts?

Saleen used American Racing wheels. I think they were part #AR 223? I would wait for some real American Racing Saleen wheels rather than buying something close..

I agree. Hold out and keep looking. The ARE's are superior all the way and most importantly super-light and strong. Maybe only 1 out of 10 guys that see your car with the Ronal wheels will be able to tell the difference, but you will know everyday.
If you are patient you can pick up a straight set of correct 16x7's and 8's that need to be refinished and spend a few bucks having them re-polished and the centers painted. Then you will have a like brand new set.

Just my 2 cents.

Are you offering to sell them or just tormenting us??? I would hold on to those puppies. There was auction last week for a set four brand new, never mounted, grey 5 spoke saleen wheels. The bids got up to $1,000 without the reserve being met. Then you look at the cost of a set of Sterns or Speedlines. $2K-$3K per set.

Man, I wish I would have purchased a set or two back in the early 90's. I could have made a killing! Oh well.....story of my life....would have....could have....should have......

I still think I did OK. Even with the shipping included I only paid $120 per wheel and that included center caps,, lug nuts, and four locking lugs with key. That's not bad considering the wheels have been discontinued for several years.

They will be for sale sometime in the future. I don't have anything to put them on........Sometimes big brakes get in the way
