Saleen Superchargers

After doing some browsing on superchargers, why do people think saleen superchargers aren't good? Is it because of quality or lack of power, pricey, etc.? To me, Saleen isn't like some joe schmo company so I found it curious as to why some people dislike their s/c'ers

They are very reliable but are lacking when it comes to power. The Series I & 2 are roots blowers and are very difficult to get over 350 rwhp. The series 4 is a twin screw like KB but is limited to around 400 rwhp. The series 5 is a 2.3 whipple twin screw I believe and is good for around 500 rwhp I believe.Hope this info helps.

Great blower, ****ty manifold design. If someone's got a little patience with a die grinder to hog the runners out a little or the money to have it Extrude honed in order to increase flow, they'd do alright. The intercooler brick has a few sealing issues as well, but that can be fixed fairly easily. Otherwise, it's a great kit. Definitely one of the nicest looking out there :nice:

I think that Saleen has a great product....but you end up paying a lot for the name....if the price of their blower dropped about 1500$ I think it wouldn't be looked over as much....it's too hard to beat the power of a KB or the reliability of a Mongoose kit for the price

The saleen kit is a good kit, but not for the price you'd pay new. You can find them used for around 2k which is a good deal. As others have said, they are limited in power because of the manifold which needs porting, and the intercooler needs to be sealed up. I spent a good 20 to 30 hours porting mine. It is not an easy job. It is a very reliable kit and a lot of fun on the street since the boost comes on early it make it pull like a big block.

yeah it is expensive but it comes with a nice little upgrade that puts the engine around 475 and that is the highest horse power I can find with a warranty. After all it is driven everyday.

Yes I am I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong forum, but y'all have been very helpful.

No, they are still 4.6's, just everyone in here is talking about the 2 valve versions. The 3v version of the saleen sc is a totally different animal. They re-engineered the way the intake is setup, and seems like an extremely nice unit for the new mustangs. Looks like they make very good power with minimal boost, so there is plenty to tap into when swapping pulleys. You shouldn't have the same intake and intercooler problems with that one.
