Sanding painting questions

I use a DA with 80 grit paper and sand to bare metal than prime with SPI epoxy primer than do my bodywork. www.southernpolyurethanes.com

SPI is great epoxy.
great price for a very high quality product.

It seals the body so it doesn't rust and the paint does stick better.

Epoxy primer is definately the way to go. I've heard the SFI stuff is good. I use DuPont Epoxy primer and have been extremely happy with it.

When Rusty speaks, listen! You should see some of the work he does. He is a true ARTIST and there seems to be nothing he is afraid to tackle.
Other, more experienced folks can correct/add to this, but I've read/heard that when sanding to remove paint, you need to be very careful at sharp body lines, as aggressive sanding can soften these lines and lose the crisp definition of them. Just my $.02.
BTW, I'm just about 1 step behind you. I've just finished detailing the engine compartment and underside of my 68 Coupe with new front suspension and disc brake conversion and am planning to strip, then epoxy prime my fenders, hood, doors and trunk lid before reassembly and the do the body work/re-epoxy/seal 1 panel at a time while I drive it a bit. I've been considering having the stuff chemically stripped, but would like to hear some advice/comments on this.
