Answer: 1.375" on mine. I already (previously) had my damper honed to fit. This question had to do with how my crank gear was fitting and how I was planning to make a fixture to hone its ID, slightly. I was at work, was making the fixture and didn't have the dimension handy.
In your experience, how tight should the crank gear be? Or, how much force should be used to mount it? Thanks.

Answer: very tight with 9-keyway sprocket like I'm using. I have learned that it should be heated and then pushed on with a proper sized tube of aluminum. Anyway, ya'll can ignore this thread now.

Install with heat? Thats ounds too tight to me. The handful of smallblock Fords I've dealt with never needed heat to install or remove the crank timing gear. It should be a slip fit.
Evidently, the 9-keyway model requires a tighter fit, according to Kato Engineering at the Corral. His advice is generally spot on.
