I plan on building a stock bottom end 306 in the next couple weeks and needed some advice on some parts to go with.

what cam would you recommend i run? i will be running the holley systeMAX heads and edelbrock performer intake and want to get somethin to go good with this setup but still have at least a small chance of smogging...... california FTL.... not really toooo worried about this as i have my ways of passing tho :p have heard goos things about the TFS stage 1 and the AFM N-61 (I think thats the one) but would they be a good match?

Also what do you guys recommend in the way of pistons? defiantely going forged but dont know if i will need to go flycut or not. I want to raise the compression but what will be safe with my heads and cam? Dont know if i should run 1.7 or 1.6 roller rockers either, i guess it depends on the cam.

any input on my build up will be greatly appreciated as im pretty lost in how to get a good setup that will work together and make good power

thanx

well i kinda got a great deal on this stuff when i wasnt making so much money...... now im working a great job and wanted to see what i could do with this stuff.....maybe i should re-sell the stuff to make some money and do that? that might be a better idea since then iwont have to make up all parts to complete the topend

but back to the compression.... when the pistons are listed to make say10:1 comp does that mean the piston will leave less room between the piston and valves than say a stock piston? hope that makes sense

I ran holley heads on my 351w and I ran in the 11's with nitrous. They are a good head and if you have them then run them. As for what piston for a 10 to 1 well trickflow makes a set they are 507 bucks from summit. Speed pro makes a set for 9.5 to 1. You should really talk to a engine builder like Rick91gt for a reccomendation on what pistons to use.

k thanx.....im really thinkin i might go with that tfs kit like you said.....i could probably sell what i have for a good price and make some money off of it to boot....i think it would just be easier and probably a better idea since this will be my first time doing any major work to my engine

im gonna go saturday and talk to the machine shop i will be using to get their insight into my build

anybody else with info go ahead and chime in
