I wasted almost 4 months trying to get a working tune chip from bama. Luckily I made a video of it. It quickly became more about finishing the video for the masses then hoping it will work out. Just wondering what the general opinion is about so called "chip and free tunes for life" before posting the video.

Go to their website and see the exclusion list of that "free for life tune" gimmick. You prety much need a stockish motor.

Kinda curious what is done to your car. Anything besides stock or outside basic bolt ons, why would you order tune instead of taking it to a tuner with a dyno? You can try and give a tuner all the mods you have but chances are, something is missing that would cause problems through a mail ordered tune

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

I don't have a world of experience with tunes, and I don't do any tuning myself. However, I have to admit that I have had more luck with mail order tunes than dyno tunes. Except for Bama tunes, those are crap. The most important part of a tune is the experience of the tuner, not the equipment they have.

Dirtydogracing.com (I hope I remembered that name right) has a lot of good reviews for email tunes. If anybody is looking. I have no personal experience with them. It just came up a lot when I was researching this topic. Fwiw

Couple of questions

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak?
What does the car do with no chip in it? Post a video of the car running without any chip
You didnt read the instructions or know that you have to clean the contacts on the EEC? Did you find that out on the 2nd or 3rd chip they sent you. From your video it looks like the 3rd,
Have you run the codes?

I am not defending Bama at all, just trying to help you out.

I just had another chip done by JMS Automotive Products Been pretty happy with them so far. I need to get a video clip of the Cobra idling. It has a .544" lift cam in it and idles like stock.

I'm not saying it is bama or not, but, just trying to rule things out. Hate for it to be something silly and have to eat crow.

I have a vacuum gauge so don't think there's a leak. It runs pretty good without the chip I would say it runs normal for the mods it has on it but not as smooth as stock obviously. I just thought it might improve with the chip. I spent a week making sure the contacts were clean copper. So whatever they put on the chip was stopping my car from running.

How bad do you want help?

Bad enough to list all the mods and when you started having problems, or is this just a gripe session?

If there is nothing electrically or mechanically wrong, the car should idle and come off throttle without dying.

The ball is in your court, so start your list...

UPDATE: The problem was the chip and the tune. It runs ok before I got the chip. I was hoping the chip/tune would make my car run better with the mods I have. They give free tunes as a scam to sell the chip. Since they wouldn't give me a refund for the chip I disputed the charge on my credit card. After about 4 months my credit card sided with me and forced a refund. Since I never returned the chip the last time I got a free chip out of this that I can take to a dyno and have it tuned right.

This is a review and warning to others to avoid BAMA free tunes for life as it is a ripoff. My credit card sided with me and got me a refund. If listing my mods to BAMA did not get a usable tune, posting them here won't help either since it ran as good as can be expected and is still fun to drive.

Ball has been returned.

FWIW, I had a great experience with BAMA tunes for life. They burned me a tune for a 95GT with a 351W conversion and an E-Cam. The car ran so much better with the tune. I'm wondering if I had the odd experience or if 69shocktower is having the odd experience.
