Ok guys, finally gave in and got the car tuned yesterday! I am not sure anyone will remember but I got the 03 Cobra last year from a CarMax and found the owner had done some "minor" modifications with the help of U.M. (and thanks U.M.). The original owner had put a 2.93 pulley, Borla Cat-back, and a Diablo chip in it. So I decided a while ago I wanted to eventually ditch the Diablo chip in favor of the SCT as well as a local guy here in the Louisville, KY area who tunes for SCT.
The gentleman here in Louisville is Lee Blankenship who owns Blankenship Tuning http://www.blankenshiptuning.com/
and all I can say is excellent. He took out that Diablo threw on the SCT and not only made the AFR perfect, he flattened that torque curve. I knew having the car SCT tuned would make a difference but WOW is all I can say. The car pulls through every gear, engine sounds better at all RPMs and under any type of load it is a whole different beast.
So I have a few suggestions for all you guys with even some minor mods like mine above (oh and I added a JLT Cold Air Intake too after I got the car). It makes a hell of a difference to have the car professionally dyno tuned by someone who knows exactly what their doing. Also try to find a tuner who has a Mustang dyno... if you can do not get tuned on a DynoJet, unfortunately no load = not real world. Also see if your tuner has his Mustang Dyno setup so he can switch it to something like a "DynoJet mode". This is a mode which disengages the brake and spins the drum of known weight and finds HP by acceleration of that weight as opposed to getting torque and finding HP by math (how a Mustang usually works).
The results are in, three performance modifications - 2.93 Pulley, JLT Cold Air Intake, and Borla Cat-Back. The stupid stuff too, NGK's gapped to 0.035, K&N Filter (and it was cleaned two days before), etc. Numbers were (and remember Mustang Dyno running in a DynoJet type of mode so these are not normal Mustang numbers), 451 HP and 488 fl-lbs torque SAE corrected.
Now onto my question (sorry this has been long). So found out you can turn traction control off with the SCT but it's completely off not *off on startup*. After a long time searching this forum here... I find there is a module I can buy or build to make this happen. The links on the SVT Performance site don't have pics anymore (too old I guess) and the link U.M. put down on here is gone too, (www.partshopper.com doesn't have it anymore it seems). So can one of you guys help me out with that one? I want the module that will *remember* my traction control setting on startup. If I have to build it that's fine but I need some more info.
Thanks,
AmdMAN
