I have new scuff plates for my 65, they sit really high. I assume you crush them down when you put the screws in but I have the feeling it will look totally wonky. They do look like the old ones but don't seem to fit the same, at least not yet.
Thought I'd ask before I mess them up

The shiny piece that goes over the carpet and door seam, under where the door closed?
If they do not fit tight, see what is holding them up before you pull the screws through or bend the new ones. If it’s the carpet, it can be smooshed down with a towel wrapped piece of 2 by lumber on top of the sill plate for even pressure.

It's actually the other way, sits a big 1/4" too high over the outer rocker. I'll take a pic tomorrow

I'm not sure if this is a problem because it's a convertible, I don't think coupes have inner rockers?

Here's a pic, I can fit my finger between the scuff plate and the outer rocker
