the gasket set I got came with 2 little cork pieces for the front corners of the oil pan to bottom of timing cover and also a black rubber piece for the half moon contour of the cover.Am I supposed to cut the existing rubber oil pan gasket and then trim the little cork pieces?.why not jsut pop it back with the original gastet intact,it doesnt look bad.also those little corner pieces look like they would have to be trimmed to make em fit.

I ripped my gasket when I changed mine. I cut away the rest of what was visable from the pan and trimmed the new gaskets to fit. I overeloaded it with silicone and it sealed nicely.
