Seam Sealer on Floor pans

The wife called today and told me I got the rest of my parts in today for the floor pans and my ceramic tri-y's...

Now I am dropping the car off hopefully tomorrow at the muffler shop to get the floor pans, headers, custom exhaust with custom X pipe and Flowmaster 40's installed.

The question I have is I am placing an order to eastwoods for the rust encapsulator and chassis black (after a little persuasion against undercoating) and was wondering if there was any advantage to applying eastwoods seam sealer over the welds for the floor pans?

Anyone use this product? Any advantage to this?

I would use it on all welds. It drys quickly and is paintable. It seals the microscopic holes that weren't filled.

Get the black. I used about 2 tubes, and put it on all the seams and welds underneath. It's flexible, so not to crack over time. I put it over the top of the chassis black Por15, and it looks real good. Maybe between coats would have been the best of both worlds...??

I sure woudln't skimp on $20 worth of seam sealer after the expense of floor pan work. Wear gloves...

Yeah, definately do it. I put in new pans too , it does just what it says. Theres a lot of small holes/ nooks and crannies in between the welds that the SS can seal up.

Along the same lines - i peeled the old seam sealer out of my trunk cause it was cracking and pulling up - i had the trunk rhino-lined - is it okay to go back and reapply the seam sealer - or is it really necessary with the lining?

When I did my floorpans two years ago I used 3M's brushable seam sealer on all the seams. It's the same stuff Ford used, doesn't crack, doesn't peel..........That was after I POR-15'd everything!

Is everyone Por 15 or painting or whatever PRIOR to seam sealing...

I would have thought you would use the seam sealer before painting...

I plan to do the entire floor area and all areas that go behind panels in Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator Black, and using Black Eastwoods brushable seam sealer.
