my buddies mother who happens to be a great seamstress just bought a new sowing machine and is very willing to reupolster my seats. I got a great deal on some black tweed. She came to the fabric shop with me to help me pick it out.

She said that she could make me the seat covers by ripping off the old ones and figuring it out that way, but she said it would be a lot easier if someone had the pattern.

Do you guys know where i could get the pattern or does someone have it that they could send it to me. SHe is doing this all for free, so i want to make this as simple as possible.

I dont have any info, but I wonder..............

If she wanted to make some money on it, I am thinking some folks would pay for new upholstery if it doesnt cost too much (and once the first set is done, making more is easy in terms of pattern figuring - she will have a mold, per se).

I know I have been trying to find some black seats from another car at the J/Y since aftermarket seats are so $$ (that is where my thinking is coming from).

Anyhow, that is great - I am very happy for you. I wonder if a local or online upholstery shop would be willing to send the pattern to you (even for a fee, that would still be a sweet deal for you when considering the total cost outlay).

Just tryin to think of what I would do, though I have no clue about this stuff.

Good luck.

Oh, for the seat swap, the folding buttons and adjusters would be on the inside, right? I dont know if they are swappable.

This would be a GREAT time to put some new foam in. The outer lower bolster is a weak point on SN seats it seems. My bud with a 98 had his redone by an upholstery guy and he said he had repacked the foam on quite a few. I know mine is pretty bad, but I am just gonna stuff it myself. :bang:

i called a couple of upolstery shops and they all told me the same thing, "Why would we give you the pattern, so we could lose money?"

Oh i just bought a tool kit from a local auto shop around the corner that has all the tools to install the new cover like hog pliers and it comes witht the hog clips too.

She is being very reluctant to start tearing into my seat with out a pattern. i think i am going to a all mustang junk yard up the road from me to get a drivers seat so that we could practice on that one. i hope its not the much money.

That is what I would do too. Or maybe someone who replaced their upholstery with a kit (I know foxes have kits, but I dont know about SN's) might have their old upholstery around and would be willing to send it to you.

Sounds cool. Good luck.

Got a source for the molded foam seat, or are you going to put a patch in just for the bolster? Mine is also worn out.

Nope - Just gonna see what I can find locally. To do it better on the cheap, I bet a ma and pa upholstery shop would sell a small piece to ya. I will do that if needed.

you can't just switch the seats, the holes won't line up.

Now, I think you could break off the rivets and reattach the seats, so the seat portion would switch sides but the mount would stay in the same place... DOWNFALL: the drivers seat is power on most applications so the power part would just sit on the ground, not integrated into the seat

If you get a pattern, I'll buy it... even though I have racing seats, I have a spare tan passenger seat in good condition in my shed (wonder how much I could sell that for?)

Too bad you're in Jersey, I'd just let you have my old stock seats if you wanted them. The upholstery had somne tears but I don't think you'd care. I replaced my seats altogether and have no use for the old ones.

moose, ive got a pair of tan leather GT seats ill sell ya for $100...the drivers is pretty worn, but the pass side is perfect....you'll probably wanna recover them anyway....if you want, ill just sell ya the drivers for like $25 so you can get the pattern...im in jersey also...lemme know:nice:

stprorolla49 i am not sure if i want the seats but i think i have a person to buy them.

i am gonna start writing letters to company's that make seat cover kits. maybe i can convince them to give me the pattern. otherwise she is going to have to tear apart a seat i buy and make one out of that.
