Hey Gang,
I live in MI and I have noticed this mostly when the car is cold, when I shift form 1st to 2nd before I release the clutch I get a clunk.
Once the car warms up it is not really noticeable.
It happened before and after I changed the transmission fluid.
any ideas?

Hi from Michigan!

Are you saying it's a clunk in the transmission when you shift into 2nd? Or is it after you are in gear?

There is a TSB about a crunchy 1-2, and 2-3 shift...when cold. I've been debating on whether I have it or not.

TSB 09-19-17

Where are you in Michigan? Maybe we can meet up and compare our cars! :)

I have a clunk when I shift between any gear, hot or cold. I thought it was my driveshaft so I replaced it with a 1 piece unit. It did help a little but while I was under the car down at the rearend, I jiggled the pinion back and forth with the driveshaft out. I got about 3/4 inch of play and it made the exact clunking sound. So, could it be excessive backlash as it is in my case? There are a few others here that have had the same it issues and it turned out to be backlash. Unfortunately who ever did my 4.10s really screwed up.

it is from 1-2 and 2-3 like you mentioned.
I live in Grand Rapids

What is TSB? Sorry for a stupid question.

OK,
I figured out the TSB, this is for 2007-2008 mustangs. Mine is an 06 but does the exact thing the TSB talks about.
I just replaced the tranny fluid with synthetic so when they fix it I will lose like 40 bucks.
