Seeing more and more foxes

I see the same 5 Foxes at local events, but as I buy and sell more in this area I am noticing more...'cause they are getting them from me! lol

Lately it seems like the people that own them around here are pumping money into them. Every year someone is getting their 5.0 painted, supercharged, turbo'd...its cool to see them keeping the Fox passion relevant!

Here in the midwest, the foxes driving down the road are becoming fewer are farther between for sure. Every once in a while you will see a clean one but not very often. Now 05-10 v6 rag tops? EVERYWHERE!!!!!! We have a wed night meet up with hundreds of cars every week. Tons of newer stangs, but only 1 or maybe 2 foxes (usually in rough shape) One thing that is cool, when I bring my GT out to the show, I am getting ALOT of attention from the late 20's to 50 crowd. The older guys are always saying...."Those were the cars to beat in my day" I find that odd, but its because Im getting older lol. Like mentioned above a few times....I'll leave my garage door open and the young pizza dude will make our delivery and ask "what year is that mustang?" I'll answer 1988..."gosh thats pretty old but it's still really clean" yeah it is bud, DONT TOUCH IT!!! lol
Also, roughly 10 years ago when I was looking for a clean fox to buy, I must have checked out a dozen of them....every one of them was beaten to an inch of its life and all of them had a dozen names on the title (fist thing I always ask to see) they were all probably 17 year olds who beat the holy piss out of them. Iam sad to see that there are fewer foxes driving down the road, but it makes me a bit more proud to own a clean one that can still ruin the day of a brandnew corvette owner :flag:

Earlier in Sept I met up with some local enthusiasts and we were referred to as Mustang Row at a local car show; total attendance was a hair over 800 cars. I was the only Fox to represent that era in our section. There were a few other clean Foxes at the show.

I received a rediculous amount of compliments and heard more people comment how they always liked the coupe style or how they always wanted a car just like that. My buddy, who isn't a car guy, told me that up until that night, he didn't think there was anything special about my Mustang, but seeing people walk past the Termi's and hover over my car changed his perspective on Foxes.

I get that all the time. None of my friends are car guys (go figure- lead to me fixing a lot of broken Chevy Cavaliers in college). People who aren't "car guys" think Foxes are junk unless they have blingy wheels and $10K paint jobs, and even then, "it's just an ugly car from the '80s that someone dumped a lot of money into." Car guys, on the other hand, will swarm around a clean Fox like flies to a dead animal.

You know what though? All my buddies (the ones who could drive stick) used to BEG me to let them drive my car, haha.

I've had non-car folk refer to my Notch as an Escort; go figure. My wife thinks it is too boxy and much prefers my 04GT over my 93.

Another Fox fan and I were discussing how Foxes seem to take people back to a happy place...strong economy, cheap gas...Race gas was 3.29 and premium was $1.19. Now premium fuel here goes for what I used to buy race gas for.

This November marks the ten year mark for having my Notch and close to 13 years having a Fox as a toy. I started off in a '83 RS 5L Capri...picked up for a song...t-top car, sold off and moved onto a 91GT...mid 14 second ride and then finally landed a coupe of which I am the second owner. All of my buddies had GT's and LX hatches and with me wanting to be different, a coupe was the way to go. Back then though, no one wanted the coupe...they were considered cheap and the "base model." The GT was the body style to have...oh how things have changed.

I like your 4-eye'd ride by the way. I saw a '85 GT red, sunroof 5-speed car that had 29,000 original miles on it going for 9G.

I wish I had the money to buy it and park it in a dry storage facility...would be worth a pretty penny in another 10 years being an unmolested survivor.

I think there are fewer and fewer teens driving these cars. I had a high schooler yell to me from the sidewalk the other day, "Hey man, is that a Mustang?" I nodded, and he turned to his buddy and said "told ya". It blew me away, but it made me realize they are becoming more rare and people don't recognize them as much (particularly, I think, the four-eye cars).

You could look at it that way, or that were all just getting OLD with our cars haha

Thanks, man. I picked it up 8 years ago with about the same mileage on it, 30K ish. The owner had to take the dust cover off it so I could test drive it. Damn, I've completely ruined it since then. :p

Haha, true.

Makes me wonder, if theres such a big fan of fox's why wouldnt ford recreate the car just with better suspension and a new 5.0 with a 6spd? Everything already done, that would be badazz

Fox chassis had served from '78-'04 and was a dire need of being retired. S-197 was a positive move and helped to keep the Mustang alive. The '11 chassis has improved over the '05-'10 and when magazine editors love the car, the public will to. The quad cam vvt 5.0 was icing on the cake.

If you look at the guys who roll in Tri Five cars and Chevelles per say, it was what they wanted in high school or had in high school. Not until recently has the Fox cars (the nice ones) started to shine. Until just a few years ago, they were still being frowned on as every kid has one.

Maybe in another ten a Fox retro will be reborn. I heard a rumor that Dynacorn was going to start stamping Fox bodies again for the public like they do other classic cars.

I wonder how much those shells would go for?

Imagine wrecking your fox, and instead of buying a 4 banger coupe....you just buy a new shell and start tramsferring parts over.

You could have a 0 mile fox potentially.

I posted something a few weeks back about the shells, they are doing the 70ish broncos and maybe the foxes from what i remember.
that reminds me, saw a sweet ass late 60 early 70 bronco today

The guy backed out at the last minute; would have been this coming Friday that we would have done the swap. AZ rig, no rust.

I'm 19 and a proud owner of an 87 GT. It isn't in great shape but still looks good, and sounds great. I love my car becasue I'm a freshman at college now and theres only two more on campus, One coupe that looks amazing, but the other is a GT and is a rolling wreck. So mine doesn't look too bad and it definitely turns heads. I love getting compliments on it from the rich snobby kids who's parents bought them brand new GT's and RX7's. That makes me proud to say the I payed mine in cash all on my own, a year ago. Basicly I love my car ha. sorry for the rant
