Wow nice find U.M., that car looks extremely nice, especially with the foglamps removed. Ford is certainly putting together a solid lineup. Now just bring back the Mach 1, Bullitt, and Lightning!

Nice car, I especially like it without the spoiler. 325hp not bad. Its another one on my future "buy" list. I am especially intrigued as to what the next body style change will look like in '08 or '09. The wife wants a vert' next, but I'm a coupe man. So my list so far includes....

GT Vert- not sure what year yet.
Shelby GT -above
Next style GT
PJ Saleen - if I really had my choice.

Pretty weak imo, dont get me wrong it looks great and depending on price it could be a worth it. But the normal gt is 300hp, you would think a shelby version would pack more than 25hp extra.

Yeah... but evidently very few of us actually visit the HOME page!

I know all my links take me straight into the forums.

More worth it to get a GT and mod it yourself IMHO.

This would be the spiritual successor to the '01 Bullitt, it is almost a repeat of the New Edge special edition cars all over again.

A few years before the last year of the New Edge cars, along comes the Bulllitt Mustang that slotted between the GT and the Cobra (in price and in power). The Bullitt was rated 10-15 HP higher than the GT, due to a few different parts on the GT SOHC engine. The Bullitt was also available with a very limited color selection (Dark Highland Green, True Blue, or Black only). Two years later, the Mach 1 appears to also fill the space between the GT and the Cobra. This time, the Mach 1 has more power due to a different engine than the GT, a non-supercharged version of the engine in the Cobra.

Fast forward to now. The S197 cars are supposed to be redesigned for 2010. Backtrack a few years, that brings you to today. The Shelby GT slots in between the GT and the Shelby GT500 (Cobra), with just a modest increase in power and price over the GT. That power increase is done with some different parts on the GTs SOHC engine. It too is only available with a very limited color selection (Black or White). The rumor mill has it that next year, the Boss Mustang will come out. This time, it will have alot more power than the GT... also, from a different engine.. a non-supercharged version of the engine in the GT500.

Ford definetly has the forumla down for keeping interest very high in it's pony car as it ages through it's model cycles.

Costs a lot less to tweak the computer, exhaust, intake (since it's already been done) and slap the name Shebly on it and charge thousands. First the GT/CS and now the Shebly GT, anybody else gettin a little tired of these new "Special Edition" cars?

Back in 1984, Ford used the GT-350 name on the 20th Anniversary mustangs. Shelby sued Ford over the use of the name, and rumor has it that part of the settlement in the lawsuit is that neither Shelby nor Ford would ever use the GT-350 name again.

Well if they actually made a new Mach 1 or another special ed. car that had an honest power increase and not just some stickers, scoops and a name (excluding the GT500 of course but who can really afford that car anyway) I'd be singing a different tune.

For instance I think like a GT330 with a n/a 5.4 would be hot. Instead we're gettin a bolt on GT with minor appearance tweaks and all of a sudden it's a Shelby, I'm not diggin it, maybe it's just me though.

you're not alone. Im not the biggest fan of Ford using the Shelby name as much as it can before he croaks either. I mean it makes sense from a business standpoint, but I dont want to see what FORD can do if they're allowed to use the Shelby name.

I want to see what SVT can do with a blank canvas. I dont mind the Mach 1's or Boss's, bc they're an original Ford car. But Shelby this and Shelby that is getting old.

25 HP is not an honest power increase? I would say that most people's first mods only net them around the same 25 HP increase. While it may not be the same power increase that the Mach 1 had over the standard GT, it is still an increase.

25HP is more of an increase than the '01 Bullitt had over the '01 GT.

The only car in the lineup now that is just stickers, scoops, and a name is the new GT/CS.

I think 25hp is an honest increase if you're talking mods, but between two different factory models I personally would like to see a 40-50hp difference at least. Just me though. Im sure it will be a sharp car and put out some decent times.

I think I'd like to pick up a used (not even officially slated for production yet, lol ) Boss and then retire the Bullitt in a few years, maybe after I graduate.

25 hp is 25hp but I'm lookin for something more then just boltons, more along the lines of a different engine choice, or maybe some hipo cams or increased displacement. Shoot the dealer up the road does it's own modifications to new Stangs as add ons with their own performance shop. But like Helty said before, it makes sense from a business standpoint. I guess it's just me but most of these new gen SE Stangs just don't do it for me...yet.
