does anyone know what these are used for? My guess is egr or smog. But I have no egr or smog on my car, so I would like to get rid of these if possible. They were on the passenger side

the larger one controls the egr, the smaller 2 control the inline diverter valves to the cats or to the heads. you can block them and have codes pop or leave them alone.

Is the ball in the fender somewhere? Does the ball need to be hooked up?

I took them out already, I am swapping intakes and decided to get rid of them because they were taking up space and I wanted to clean up the engine bay a little more. Thanks for the info

Isn't the ball in the fender AC related?

How about heat? That ball is the reservoir for the blower control i.e. the vacuum operated solenoids for the a/c and heat selector switch

Just keep the reservoir i had taced it all out the ball goes to the check valve located in the bay and that comes from the vac tree and the other side goes inside which is your main line for your selector switch for your heat controls

A vac resevior is a nice thing to have around, especially if you have less instant engine vac due to a cam.
It is just a reserve of vacuum to keep the simple stuff like vents operating smoothly in all conditions.
