Setting my car up for a Saleen series IV supercharger

My car is a 2000 GT with only 13,000 miles. I have 4.10 gears and just about all the bolt ons including BBK long tube headers. I know I'll probably want to swap to the 3.55 gears. I hvae upgraded my tranny to the Cobra
T56 transmission. I think my stock clutch will hold on for about 20,000 miles maybe before I need to upgrade that. I have suspension mods including subframe connectors, LCA'a and Bilstein shocks/struts and eibach Springs.
I'm thinking this supercharger will get me about 350 rwhp. If I keep the stock pulley on, it shouldn't hurt the engine. Any opinions on what else I should do or be prepared for with this setup? Thanks. :flag:

Are you getting the S/C for a really good price or something? Reason I ask is because you can probably get a KB set-up for around the same price.
Also, is the Saleen S/C coming as a kit?

My hp goal is only about 350rwhp and this series IV will get me there. Yes, it will come as the complete kit and I'm getting a good deal. From what I've read, a supercharged saleen is basically a stock GT engine with the series IV on it. So, with their set up I should be fine and shouldn't have to worry about tearing the motor up.

Ok, well it looks like you're ready to bolt it on since you have the supporting mods to go with it. Just remember that getting a dyno tune is the most important thing you can do after the install. Stay out of boost until you get that done......

How good of a deal are you getting? I would say to at least price out the KB setup before wasting your money on the Saleen. 350 will def. not be enough. Trust me. I thought 13# of boost and 500hp was going to be plenty. WRONG!! I have already moved to 17# and am now looking to go up to 19# possibly. I have the bug bad. I think it's terminal.:(

Not only from the extra power angle, but the saleen supercharger is grossly overpriced and I have seen them fail repeatedly. You will regret the saleen. go for the KB and just run 6psi.

Overpiced?, Yes. Prone to failure? No. The saleen kit will make more power than the 6psi non IC'd KB kit, it just doesn't have any room to grow. If someone is ok with making less than 400 rwhp and can pick up the kit used for around 2k, the saleen kit is a good deal.

Really.....that's news to me.

If 350rwhp is all you're after, the Eaton based Allen Supercharger kits are a nice alternative as well. High quality fit and finish, excellent warranty, great power and drivability....and cheaper than both the Saleen and Kenne Bell kits to boot.

A couple of vids of an Allen in action, both on the dyno and at the track....

yes a local speed shop has a few laying around with bearing failures and other issues. he doesnt install them, these are from people upgrading to KB's. how many people do you see taking off these blowers for a KB.. and vice versa.

but maybe I worded that wrong, I have seen more failures from them han from KB's

The saleen series IV uses a whipple twinscrew supercharger, very similar to the KB. The supercharger itself is very well designed, and is no more prone to failure than the KB. The only down fall to the saleen, besides the price, is the design of the lower intake. That includes the intercooler. The intercooler is made by garret and is as good as the KB, but the intake leaves gaps around it so it allows uncooled air into the lower intake. You see people switching up to the KB because they can not get the power out of the series IV they can out of a KB. If you could buy the intake manifold alone from kenne bell, there would be no reason to upgrade anything else for that supercharger.

Yes I took off mine for a KB. But not because of any failure... the saleen blower was in "new" like conditions after 3 years of driving.
It just doesn't make the power it's supposed to, that's why we upgrade to a KB...

And now 2 years later the KB also still look like new...
