Severly hot EGR valve

Just wondering if anyone has experienced discoloration of their EGR valve due to excessive heat. And what might cause it.

Also any good ideas for low buck horse power? Allways room for improvement right?

Exhaust gases pass through the EGR under part throttle so the heat and discoloration is just a part of it. Mine looks like hell. I might try some high temp paint on it sometime.

You'd think being on the top of the motor it would come with a high heat protector...
I never really noticed it on the old one.

I just replaced the thing and it started turning rusty a month later.
