shaky steering column, and remedy (lol sp?)

so the column on my 89 gt (tilt) has a lot of up and down play in it, it didn't really bother me at first, but i really gives the car a cheap feel ya know. is the any way to take care of this. thanks guys

Remove the column cover, you should see a bracket with two nuts on either side of the shaft, about 2 or 3 inches from the steering wheel. If you feel under that bracket I bet the nuts are loose. Tighten them and it should be fine....a little thread locker will keep them tight.

on the part that tilts or further down under the dash

Under the dash. There should be 4 nuts holding the steering column on to a frame up there.

no, but on the bright side lol, it was only one loose bolt that had the whole thing loose! so we're back in buisiness!
