Well old blacky made the 925 mile drive to Tallahassee. I averaged about 22mpg running 70+mph at 2500rpms, AC on, and packed with 400 pounds of garb. The drive between IL and FL is extremely hilly. On some of the grades I was seeing only 4 inches of vacuum, 16 is about normal for level driving.

It was a fun drive. I had a few people give me the thumbs up and talk to me about my car at gas stations. I loved that $2.15-$2.30 a gallon gas too. The trip cost me $100 just in gas

Now I just have to wash the old beast. It doesn't look so good anymore

That is such an Awesome feeling when you make it home in the Stang with no problems. It's great to take the car out of town and ride.

Take some extra steps to protect your ride. It's a college town which brings extra crime. I stay at Tallee 4 times per year (work) so I'm familiar with the area.

why wouldn't she make it? have you been having problems with her lately? is she on her last legs? these cars are very reliable, aren't they? or is it the mods that made you worried you might not make it?

I'm going with its the mods and a long trip I head out to the track and never worry about making it home with my mods... But on a long trip I would.

They are very reliable in town where you are close to tools or friends house, IMO. On long road trips you get paranoid of every noise and smell from the car.

I take my mustang up to Wisconsin (200 mile drive each way) a couple times each year. I have never had any problems, only the noise from the exhaust gets a little tiring after a while. I averaged about 275 miles to a tank on the trip when I had 4.10 gears and was going about 65 - 70 mph the entire trip with a couple spurts to 110 when someone pissed me off. I'm guessing I'll get about 300 or better with the 3.73 gears.
