FINALLY!! I started around 3, and I went ahead and pulled the heads off. Number 1 cylinder had water markings in it, and the plug was cleaner than the rest, so I figure there was water getting in there. I put a straight edge on both heads and checked them with a feeler gauge, and neither one were warped, so I should be good there. I replaced the head gaskets, and also the lower intake front and rear seals. They were still the stock pieces and they were both torn right in two, that can't have been good. I put it all back together, and after getting the firing order sorted out (some wires were crossed) and setting the timing, GOD does she run good! At least idling and revving. I haven't driven it on the street (still running rich) but she revs quick and smooth! Sounds mean as hell too. I gotta adjust the fuel pressure tomorrow, and set the idle, then figure something out about a breather, then she should be good to go. Anyway, I gotta jump in the shower, I bathed in antifreeze earlier taking off the lower radiator hose (to pull it to replace the balancer). Oh yea, did I mention I tore it all apart and put it back together in under 6 hours? lol

Oh, no I replaced those too. I just reread my post and realized I left that out. I replaced all my gaskets and seals.

Congrats Chris! And this happens just as small animals and foreign car drivers were feeling safe on the streets again.

lol. Actually, I didn't even have to take the power steering pump or anything off. I just backed out the bolt behind it, slig the bracket out, backed out the bolt some more, slid the bracket out more, and eventually the whole bracket came off just like that.

I'll try and get some pics today. By the way, what did you do for a breather/oil fil tube? Mine is like right under the C&L pipe, and there is no room for the breather I bought to fit under there. I need to figure that out today too.

Congrats Chris, I'll see you on the street soon! Was the problem a result of the overtorqing of the head bolts or something jsut misaligned?

i used the ford racing one from summit.

look here

this is an old picture and it has the other breather that i was using in there. but the reason i switched was it didn't hold in the whole very well. the new ford racing one fits great. it is a tight fit with the intake tube but it does fit and i think we should have the same c&l intake. sorry for the shotty pic but it's all i got right now. i don't have my camera.

GOOD LUCK
