Shelby GT500 Spoiler fit GT Decklid??

Thanks to some nice lady in town (see attached pic), I get to remodel the rear end of my 06 GT. So now the big question is, has anyone put one of the GT500 spoilers on the GT trunklid? If so, was it a direct fit or was there a different bolt pattern? I'm guessing it bolts in the same position as the GT spoiler but hopefully someone can educate me on this. Hopefully it does not need new holes drilled.

I figured this is the best time to make the switch....so any help is appreciated!

Also going to add the Shelby bumper. Just enough of a switch to make it mine but not to the point that I'm trying to clone

thanks, LB

I'd be curious on this one as well. I have an 07 GT/CS in Vista Blue coming next month and I had planned on installing the Steeda copy.

It's mounted in the exact same place on the 07 Shelby too I believe. So the Shelby spoiler should fit with it.

Thanks for the replies!! I feel better about having it added to my body work... I'm taking it to the Ford Dealerships so I'm sure they won't steer me wrong, I just wanted some insight on the feasability without a bunch of mods..

Let us know if the dealers says they can do the 500 spoiler, and how it goes on. The Steeda site says it theirs uses the factory holes and uses double sided tape. I'm wondering if the Shelby spoiler uses tape. I would think not, but who knows?

The factory one has double sided tape on it too... It is used to prevent leaks from what I can tell

Everything happened on Thursday...wreck and drop off at Ford. I should know early next week what the cost will be and any mods that might have to be made. Anyone konw of any other mods for the back end? The only bumper I found that would fit the stock exit exhaust was the Shelby. Is there another style. I have researched Cervini, Roush, and Saleen

I'd love to see a good write up on the Ford GT500 install. Apparently the Steeda (Carbon3D) wing now requires extra holes to be drilled at the ends. That discourages me from going with anything other than the Ford, even if it costs more.

The GT500 spoiler does just drop in there. As was mentioned, it does have tape, but uses the factory holes and bolts on there just like the stock wing. One of the other manufacturers is 3DCarbon. If you check their website, they have installation instructions you can download. Lots of nice pictures. Probably the toughest part is getting the factory wing off. It's glued on there pretty good.

Also, about rear fascias. The GT500 rear fascia is really nice. But, 3DCarbon also makes a good one that looks very similar. I think there's an outfit called Legend Mustangs that also has a rear fascia like the GT500. Try a google search on them.

I went with a CS rear bumper and it was a good bit cheaper than the GT500's and it looks pretty similar.

IIRC the GT500's costs something like 280 bucks. I paid 146 for the CS bumper...

I ordered the CS so I already have the rear fascia. The 3Dcarbon rear spoiler is listing at $286 on the Steeda website. I've seent the Ford GT500 spoiler listed as low as $229 on some Ford dealership websites. One dealership I think even offered it painted for an extra charge which would be convenient.

If you can get a Ford-supplied GT500 spoiler painted for somewhere in the mid $200's, go for it. Putting it on is pretty easy. But, I would recommend that you get a friend to help you remove the factory wing. From my experience it will be safer for your car to have another person help you wrestle that thing off without scratching the paint on the trunk lid.

Where did you get your CS rear bumper for that price? I found it on Fordparts.com (actually I had to call) for $240 and some change.

I plan on going the CS rear and front bumper covers. Thanks.

I have the GT500 spoiler, installs in the same holes. also as mentioned it has the
2 sided tape, a friend who owns his own bodyshop painted it for free, installed it
by myself no problem, it took about 1 hour to remove the stock spoiler, clean up
the mess created by the tape from the stock spoiler, and install the GT500 spoiler.
