shift kit?

i have recently acquired a newly rebuilt '67 c4. it has a stage 1 shift kit in it. i know these allow you to manually downshift at any speed, but how do you do that with a stock cruise-o-matic shift console? is there anything i need other than to bolt it on and go? does it just automatically downshift at any speed, based on the engine rpm? if someone could please explain this to me, i'd be very appreciative.

essentially, what i'm wondering is if there is anything extra i need to do/look out for, or can i just put 'er in drive and go?

and . . will a '66 shifter and bezel work with a '67 tranny?

It means that you can yank it into first gear while rolling at 30 where as before you would pull it all the way back and it would not go into first. You don't need to change anything.
The second question will just depend on what the linkage coming out of the tranny looks like. If they are the same, yes. Other than that the shifter doesn't care what year it is.
