As silly of a question this is, does anyone have issues with their shift knobs not making contact with the shift boot when fully tight and no matter how much you tug the shift boot up? I don’t have a nut or washer under the shift knob and I don’t know if I’m supposed to. Stock shifter.

Weird, i have the opposite problem where my shift knob would go too far down and not be able to tighten all the way, so i had to add a spacer to get it to work. Is anything stuffed up inside the shift knob preventing it from screwing down further?

Is this a stock shifter? Stock boot and stock knob?

Yes, it's a common issue. But remedying it depends on your combo of parts. The stock shifter boot has a rubber donut under that helps keep the boot higher. However your boot looks like it's stretched out. Is this a longer shifter handle?

It’s stock as far as I’m concerned. Is there anywhere I can find the rubber part?

Unfortunately they come as part of the shift boot. You would have to get creative in fabbing something up. Really it’s just a rubber ring maybe 3/8-1/2” tall.

I've used a piece of cut hose for this in the past

Could probably find something at your local hardware store as well
