I was at a stop light and the sun happened to fall onto my cluster and I saw an up arrow blended into the background under the tach. Why does my GT have a shift light? And why doesn't it work? I have the upgraded cluster with the mycolor and stuff. Anyone else seen this? Maybe to remind us to shift if we redline?

i remember they had those years ago. they were for best fuel economy. it lights up when you should be shifting up, not racing. if you were going 30 in first gear (but not racing) the light would be on. it is like an auto tranny. when you should be shifting it does. when you should be shifting, the light came on. why ford decided not to make them functional, i would guess that they got too many thumbs down on it. there was one in my s10 too and i hated it.

think about it!

Besides the annoying ugly orange lights of years ago being nothing more than a distraction to the above average driver, (Every time i saw one on my truck i thought the da*n check engine light was coming on again) think about all the future money FORD could lose if they put them as functional. 1: Maybe they will bring a good looking cluster to the aftermarket at some point in the future, 2: Think of the lawsuits galore when all the teenagers have those horrible accidents in their new GT because mom and dad bought them a car with too much power for a child to control without a proper driving class to learn how to handle the capabilities of a car. The lawyer proves in some silly city with some silly judge that Ford is responsible to a degree for its shift lights telling said child to push the car to this limit of the light. Can you see it? 3: It would have some negative effect on Insurance rates because a higher desire to see the light coming on causing more accidents, and list could go on and on. But it still sounds like it could be fun. (especially if it was programable!):Track:
